CORE SPECTRAL GAMMA

The core gamma log is reported as the total emissions and the individual isotopic constituents of Potassium, Thorium and Uranium.

CT SCANNING

CT scanning of the core is necessary to determine the angle of bedding.

CORE SLABBING

Slubbing of core sections for 1⁄4 and 3⁄4 parts

SEDIMENTOLOGICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE 1⁄4 SECTION

DIGITAL DETAILED PHOTOGRAPHY UNDER WHITE LIGHT AND ULTRA VIOLET LIGHT.

PLUG SAMPLING FROM THE 3⁄4 SECTION

Plug samples 1.5 and/or 1 inches in diameter and approximately 2 inches long are used for the routine analysis program.

SOLVENT EXTRACTION

Soxlet solvent extraction (Methanol, Toluene or Chloroform). AZLAB may propose any other solvent sequences to the client for approval.

PERMEABILITY & POROSITY

Measurements
• Porosity Calculation
• Grain Volume Measurement
• Pore Volume Measurement
• Permeability & Porosity

PROFILE PERMEABILITY (MINI PERM. MEASUREMENT)

Probe permeability for each point.

PETROGRAPHICAL THIN SECTION PREPARATION AND DESCRIPTION

The thin sections preparation and detailed description under microscope.

SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (SEM)

SEM analysis of samples conducts to visually document and evaluate rock fabric, whith particular emphasis directed toward pores, pore throats and the mode of diagenetic components (e.g. clays). The highest magnification SEM photograph are generally document details of diagenetic clay morphology and mode of occurrence, includes 6 photographs taken with different magnification and given below.

X-RAY DIFFRACTOMETER ANALYSIS (XRD)

The analysis are carried out to determine mineralogical composition of sample using X-rays.

PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION

• Sieving method normally applied to soils that contains more than 65% particles >45μm, i.e. sands and gravels.
• The hydrometer method, followed by sieving, for soils that contain more 35% fine particles, i.e. clays.

PALEONTOLOGY

Sample prepared for complex Biostratigraphical partition and interpratation: Foraminifera, Ostracods, Mollusc

PALYNOLOGY

Processing and interpretation Stratigraphically positioning and Bionomical conditions are also determined.

CORING & PROCESSING

• Coring and Core Preparation
• Surface protection
• Core preservation
• Plug Preservation
• Core Plugging
• High resolution photography
• Spectral Gamma (API, U, Th, K)
